Transformers: Age of Extinction Review

Transformers: Age of Extinction was… a fucking chore.

This isn’t a film you watch, this is a film you endure. Everyone is a ridiculous caricature, nothing resonates, no jokes land, I was so sick of it I wanted Optimus and the rest to die in a fiery explosion so the film could end.

Despite featuring the Transformers as more prominent characters than previous films, the god-awful dialogue makes listening to them completely unbearable. There’s nothing to engage with as these walking stereotypes blunder after whatever McGuffin the plot requires. The action scenes are typical Bayhem nonsense with confused presentation that make them impossible to follow. They feel weightless because the characters are so unlikable and shallow it’s hard to care what happens to them. The plot is your typical overwrought save the world because alien bomb nonsense, it doesn't make much sense but honestly it wouldn't have had to if anything else in this movie had worked.

This film is entirely too long to be worth your time at almost three hours even for the hardcore fans of the franchise the pace is far too plodding and inconsistent to get the thrills you want.

3/10 Not even Optimus can save you from this movie.
