BlacKkKlansman Review

BlacKkKlansman was… biting.

Finally, something worth seeing. Impressively melding vicious social criticism with a genuinely hilarious screenplay, this film was a breath of fresh air after a disappointing summer lineup. Excellent performances from Adam Driver and John David Washington sell every line in a dynamite script boosted by a strong supporting cast. I think this film achieves just about everything it set out to do. So close on the heels of Sorry to Bother You the overall message feels far more conventional but with its own style nonetheless. The shot composition is very dynamic, and the way Spike Lee uses edits to tell stories simultaneously and to highlight untold stories within his story is incredible. The costume design is also just awesome, the 70’s look horrendous but in a good way.
