Crimson Peak was...beautiful.

Truly phenomenal visuals are not quite enough to distract from a somewhat lacking plot, it reveals too much too early and fails to develop the rest at all. By the end of the film I felt like I had somehow slept through a critical middle portion explaining some of the more muddled aspects. The aesthetics however are truly magnificent. Every set is exquisitely designed in fine detail, I only wish there was a more complete narrative to explore this dark and foreboding setting.
6/10 The beauty is only skin deep.
