Ocean’s 8 was… fine.
Much like the Ghostbuster's reboot, Ocean's 8 seemed like another cash grab trying to play on nostalgia and mainstream feminism. Unlike that train wreck, it's a serviceable film. The costume design really stands out here and the film goes out of its way to show it off in style. The acting talent here is great with a similarly stacked ensemble cast. The script on the other hand, which follows the beats of Ocean's 11 almost exactly, doesn't give them anything interesting to do. The movie looks like it's trying really hard to be another Soderbergh heist film, but it just can't quite get there, it acts like it's as smart as those films without actually demonstrating it.
Overall, Ocean's 8 isn't a bad film, but it mostly just made me want to go watch Ocean's 11 again.
6/10 Forgettable felonies.
