Solo was…fine.
A competent, safe, and perfectly watchable film. It’s not particularly ambitious or compelling in any significant way. It does little to add to Han's character, the narrative is extremely predictable, and most of the humor isn’t great and a lot of it has really confusing messaging. There’s an entire subplot that surrounds a droid that’s concerned with the abolition of droid slavery and it’s played for jokes in the middle of quarry filled with actual slaves.
It's just not an interesting film. But if you just start salivating for Star Wars you will probably love it. Or if you go to the movies to turn your brain off and look at explosions then you'll also have a good time. Basically, just don't have expectations and the movie will provide an adequate amount of entertainment value for a night of no particular significance.
6/10 Already forgotten.
